Peace Buddy

Become a Peace Buddy!

What is a Peace Buddy?

Every year, 300,000 students visit Nagasaki on school excursions. At Peace Education Lab Nagasaki, we offer the "Peace Dialogue" program—a guided tour around the Peace Park area for these visiting students.

As a Peace Buddy, you will take on the role of a guide. Young university students and locals—close in age to the students—act as their buddies, walking alongside them to explore and discuss meaningful questions unique to Nagasaki. This is a rare opportunity to exchange ideas and reflect together.

Whether your motivation is to contribute to peace, connect with young minds, or simply experience something new, this is a place where you will meet incredible people and discover a different side of Nagasaki.

Why not join us as a Peace Buddy?

  • 1–2 Peace Buddies will guide a small group of 8–11 school students.
  • Each tour lasts 60–80 minutes, covering key sites such as Hypocenter Park and the atomic bombing ruins in Peace Park.
  • The focus is not just on sharing knowledge, but on engaging in meaningful dialogue—standing on equal ground with the students to explore questions together.
